The sparse landscape of extended family
allows the distinct lines and shapes of each
to be noticed and acknowledged and celebrated.
This past weekend when Lorna was visiting,
Adam and Liz met us in Roy (near Ogden)at
our cousin Rachelle's house. We spent time
with Rachelle and her family (Ryan & 3 kids),
as well as Brianne and her husband, Matt.
It was pleasant and fun and had some engaging
moments. Some of the best came toward the end
as the adults played Cranium and then we took
some pix before exiting.
Rachelle's 3 kids are Josh(5), Caleb(3) & Samara(1)
So, Elise and Caleb were playing quite a bit.
When she went to give him a hug goodbye, they
kissed each other on the lips.
[What is it about adults that they think the things
little kids do are adorable (high pitched voice :);
Meanwhile, if teenagers did the same, the reaction
would likely be ridiculously different.]
All of the adults (I am not excluding me)
thought that this toddler goodbye was absolutely endearing
AND, that it needed to be captured on camera.
We spent 20 minutes trying to recreate the moment
so that it could be encapsulated in digital format.
(is it really the same then :)?)
Brennan and Kaia thought this was HILARIOUS!
Brennan kept saying "how cute"...and then laughing hysterically.
Kaia said, "oh, leesy got her first kiss...lucky!"
Finally, Kaia and Josh kindof tried to recreate this in kindergarten form. It wasn't quite as cute. But, they wanted some
of the attention we were heaping on Elise & Caleb.
Anyway, it was funny and it will certainly be remembered
in our cousin hall o' memories...
Here are a few pics of the night...
(The one where Elise has her hand over her mouth is when she went to kiss Caleb and he moved away...she was terribly offended!...the one with Brennan kissing her is him trying to make her feel better...)
