This year, Halloween brought Adam and Liz down from Idaho to go trick or treating with me and the kiddos. First, we went to Chili's for dinner. This was presumably for my birthday, but really so that I could make sure the kids had some decent food in their tummies prior to the candy attack. The kids had lots of fun trick or treating (of course!) and really enjoyed playing with Uncle Adam and Aunt Liz! We were so glad they came out to play!!
Mama with her Princess.
Doesn't Elise look like she could be Liz's daughter :)?
Initially, I think Adam was a tad worried about his nephew choosing to be Hannah Montana for Halloween. Luckily, being around Brennan, it was impossible to not enjoy his infectious and sincere delight in it!
Elise-Princess Angel (that's what she called it :)!)
Kaia-Princess Jasmine (I made her costume :)!)
Brennan-Hannah Montana (Braved school and PREVAILED :)! The kids in his class loved his outfit and he was so calm and self-assured that I loved that!)
Kaia's wig ended up being a nightmare ;)!! By the end of the night I just tossed it in the car...where it looked quite a bit like roadkill...
Elise declared she was "NOT cold"! So, she took off her jacket to display her wings. Of course, this prompted many a homeowner to woefully decry the lack of jacket...and I am sure question my mothering skills! However, I have enough skill to know that Elise is really, really, REALLY good at being: ELISE! So, I don't need to question her if she's "NOT cold". I just smile and nod at the disapproving looks from well-meaning women and I calmly carry her jacket and allow her to "spread" her wings...
Adam walks with all 3 "girls" :)! And, Elise looks a bit weary at the end of her trick or treating escapade...

Very cute and fun! So did it work taking them out to dinner before trick or treating?
Looks like you guys had fun... but now it's time to update your blog!
This is the second time I read this and this time I realized I didn't leave a comment...oh no! You always do a really great job at depicting the exact spirit of events you brave. I could predict before you mentioned the bit about Adam wondering about Bren's costume and then imagined Elise saying 'I not cold' and you giggling to hold in a tad of frustration because a year ago you would have forced her to put on the jacket to avoid comments. I love that it was a family event...and yes, Elise looks like she could be Adam & Liz's daughter so much.
